The campsite in Schillig on the North Sea coast, with around 1,500 pitches, is not expected to be sold until the end of the year, according to WTG. The site recorded around 285,000 overnight stays in 2025. The municipally owned company Wangerland Touristik GmbH is forced to sell it due to financial difficulties: the construction of the Thalasso Meeres Spa cost around 23 million euros instead of the planned 8.9 million. According to insolvency administrator Christian Kaufmann, there are several interested parties, but no binding date for signing contracts has been set.
