Gerhard Ofner from Gmunden, Austria, has built a bicycle caravan weighing 30–40 kg and is on its first test trip. The 65-year-old former Austrian Federal Railways employee is travelling from Gmunden to Uttendorf for a meeting of former ÖBB construction managers; the route is 192 km. The trailer is equipped with a solar panel for interior and exterior lighting and phone charging, and is propelled solely by muscle power. On the first day, Ofner covered the distance from Gmunden to Hallein in eight hours with a short stop at Mondsee. If the test succeeds, he plans a trip to Spain.
