The country score (0–100) is computed from all of its cities, not a single point. Cities are grouped into regions, and a region's score is the median of its cities so dense clusters don't outweigh sparse ones. Final score = 0.65 × “best areas” (80th percentile of regions) + 0.35 × “typical conditions” (median of regions), so one warm city can't push the whole country to 100. Each city's score blends warmth (feels-like), sun, rain and wind, adjusted for night temperature and, on the coast, the sea. Data: Open-Meteo, refreshed several times a day.

  • Heat counts by feels-like temperature: at 32°+ the score can’t reach “Comfortable”, muggy nights lower it further
  • A dangerous day drags the week down: a storm or downpour in the forecast keeps the week from being “Comfortable”
  • Bonus: warm sea, high panel output

Carinthia remains popular camping destination

In July 2026, Carinthia recorded 2.6 million overnight stays, up four percentage points compared to July 2025. In the first half of the year, the region ranked second among Austrian federal states in camping overnight stays (about 655,000), behind Tyrol. Operators report an increase in new guests, including from Denmark, Czech Republic, Poland, and surprisingly from the UK and Ireland. Starting in November, a local tax of four euros per person per night will be introduced, causing some concern among campsite operators.

Banner expands lithium battery range for motorhomes and caravans

Austrian battery manufacturer Banner has introduced the new Traction Bull Bloc Lithium series for motorhomes, caravans, boats and marine applications. The series is designed for deep-cycle use and offers more than 3,000 cycles at 80% depth of discharge. It is available in five capacity variants – 50, 75, 80, 100 and 150 Ah – at a nominal system voltage of 12.8 V, with usable energy ranging from 640 to 1,920 Wh. All models feature an integrated battery management system (BMS) and can be monitored in real time via a Bluetooth app.
