British company Sussex Campervans has built the Kingfisher camper van on the cargo version of the Kia PV5. The PV5 is the first production model in the PBV line on the E-GMP.S platform. The conversion keeps the van's dimensions: about 4,695 mm long, a 2,995 mm wheelbase and a cargo volume of around 4.5 m³.
Layout and kitchen
The interior uses bamboo surfaces with white inserts, and the furniture has rounded shapes. All windows have insect screens and blinds, and the front passenger seat swivels. The kitchen module has two induction hobs and a microwave, both powered from the traction battery through vehicle-to-load. The fridge and microwave sit inside, while the sink and hobs slide out through the driver's side sliding door. A separate LFP battery under the bonnet serves 12-volt consumers, and there is a socket at the rear of the cabin.
Powertrain and range
The PV5 comes with 51.5 kWh and 71.2 kWh traction batteries. The cargo version with the larger battery has a 120 kW front motor and 250 Nm of torque. WLTP range is up to 416 km with the 71.2 kWh battery and up to 297 km with the smaller one. DC charging peaks at 150 kW, AC charging at up to 11 kW. In a practical test the 71.2 kWh version covered about 350 km: the camper equipment adds weight and reduces range. The PV5 also set a record of 430 miles (about 693 km) on one charge in conditions close to commercial use.
