Raid in Sines
On 21 September, the National Republican Guard (GNR) carried out an operation in the municipality of Sines, Portugal, against camping and caravanning outside authorised locations. 31 administrative offence reports were issued, including for overnight stays in unauthorised places.
Participants and location
The operation involved the territorial post of Sines and the environmental protection group of Santiago do Cacém (Setúbal territorial command) together with the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF). Inspections took place along the coast, including in the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park, part of the Natura 2000 network.
Purpose
According to the GNR, the aim of the operations is to prevent damage to natural values and ensure compliance with legislation. The exact distribution of reports between camping and caravanning is not specified.
