Palma's deputy mayor Javier Bonet said nearly 200 people living in 105 caravans and motorhomes at the Son Hugo car park will not be evicted. However, once a new access control system is introduced, residents staying overnight will be unable to leave between 10pm and 8am. Resident representative Begoña Iglesias said they broadly support the proposal, noting that about 90% of residents are members of the Municipal Sports Institute and pay fees. One resident called for a dedicated paid area for caravans, but the council said Balearic law prohibits such campsites.
