Pilot site
A parking area for motorhomes and campers is planned on Tsitadelskoye Highway in Kronstadt. The site will be able to accommodate up to 16 motorhomes simultaneously with electric hookups up to 3 kW each. The area is equipped with surveillance cameras and a security pavilion.
Next steps
The next location under consideration is a parking area on Prudovaya Street in Peterhof. The City Parking Management Center (GЦУП) together with the caravaners' community will analyze all city parking lots to find other suitable places, with priority given to suburbs and city entrances. Following the meeting, an agreement is planned to be signed between the caravaners' communities, GЦУП and the Committee for Tourism Development.
At the off-site meeting, members of caravaners' clubs, the ANO Club of Caravaners and Autotourists of Russia and the public organisation League of Caravaners, as well as staff of the Committee for Tourism Development, set out the main request: St Petersburg needs equipped parking areas away from the centre where motorhomers can leave their vehicle and continue exploring the city by car or public transport. This is because driving a vehicle with a trailer on city streets is difficult. Participants also noted the convenient size of the Kronstadt site, its markings and the room to manoeuvre with a trailer.
