In Brief

Kazakhstan's first official RV campground opened in Astana, while Japan added five new RV parks across multiple prefectures in early 2026

Kazakhstan

On April 25, the first official RV campground in Kazakhstan opened in Astana, located in the Zhetysu recreation park. The opening coincided with a caravan rally. Despite approval from the local administration, police visited the rally several times to check parking compliance. Camping is free for the first year. Only motorhomes are allowed; tents and barbecues are prohibited.

Japan

The Japan RV Association is expanding its network of paid RV parks. Four new parks opened in February 2026:

  • RV Park WANALOHA Fuji (Yamanashi Prefecture) — 5 sites with electricity, 24-hour toilet, pets allowed. From 3,500 yen per night.
  • RV Park Nagaya Ide Kyoto (Kyoto Prefecture) — 3 sites with private toilets, showers, and electricity. From 6,000 yen per night.
  • RV Park キャンパーク善光寺下 (Nagano) — long-term parking, 24-hour toilet, electricity, waste disposal. 10-minute walk from Zenkoji Temple.
  • RV Park ACAO FOREST (Atami, Shizuoka Prefecture) — 2 sites with electricity, water, toilet, view of Sagami Bay. From 4,400 yen per night.

Also in February, ASKIA park (Kagawa Prefecture) opened — 5 sites with electricity, 24-hour toilet, waste disposal. From 6,380 yen per night.
