A paid motorhome stopover, RV Park Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Shirahama Gyoen, has opened in Shirahama, Wakayama Prefecture. It sits next to the Shirahama hot spring, one of Japan's three oldest. The site is certified by the Japan RV Association and allows stays of up to about one week. Guests have access to a 24-hour toilet, 100 V power and waste disposal. For an extra fee, they can use the neighbouring hotel's large bath and book a dinner buffet in advance.
