Convenience store chain Lawson has introduced a service allowing motorhomes to stay overnight in store car parks at five locations in Nagasaki Prefecture. The service, launched last year in parts of the Kanto region, has now been extended to Kyushu. Customers book via a dedicated website, register inside the store and receive a user pass for toilet access and a parking permit. An electric cable reel can be borrowed for boiling water and simple cooking. Check-out is by 10:00 the next morning, and the fee is 2500 to 3000 yen per stay. The service currently operates at 48 stores nationwide, with plans to expand to about 70 stores within the current fiscal year.
