GENSEN HOLDINGS, which operates 75 accommodation facilities (hot spring hotels, inns, theme parks) across Japan, announced the launch of camper van campsites on its parking lots starting September 1, 2026. The project aims to solve the three major issues of sleeping in a car: lack of baths, meals, and security.
The cost is 3500 yen per night. According to one source, there is an additional 1000 yen for electricity and 1000 yen after 21:00; another source says meals and electricity are charged separately, without specifying amounts. The parking lots will be equipped with electricity, 24-hour toilets, and garbage disposal. Guests can opt for a dinner buffet at an additional charge. Hotel staff will be on duty 24 hours, ensuring safety.
The decision is linked to the growing number of camper owners in Japan, which reached 173,000 units in 2025, and rising demand for safe and comfortable paid overnight spots. Reservations are available only online via the RV Park website.
