At around 4pm on 25 January, a camper van rear-ended a passenger car on National Route 49 in the village of Hirata, Fukushima Prefecture. Two women in the car were taken to hospital. The driver, a woman in her 60s, was taken to a hospital in Koriyama City unconscious. A passenger, a woman in her 80s, was taken to a hospital in Hirata and was conscious. Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
