Swedish authorities and the German Foreign Ministry have warned tourists traveling in motorhomes and caravans about rising crime in Sweden. According to Swedish officials, thefts targeting tourists are increasing and occur even on guarded campsites, particularly in the southern and western regions, including the areas around Malmö and Gothenburg.
The German Foreign Ministry reports a rise in burglaries and robberies not only at wild camping spots but also at official campsites. The highest concentration of crimes has been recorded in the south and west of the country, near the ferry terminals in Malmö and Trelleborg, as well as along the E6 highway.
Recommendations: keep documents and valuables separate, use digital copies, avoid leaving items in sight, install additional locks, alarms, and barricade doors from the inside.
