Motorhome theft: how to protect your vehicle

Two accidents on the A23 motorway between Heide and Albersdorf on Wednesday morning led to temporary closures in both directions. At around 10:15, a Tesla driver lost control in heavy rain while heading north; the car skidded and hit a motorhome travelling in the right lane. The motorhome driver also lost control, left the road and struck the crash barrier. The Tesla driver and one person from the motorhome were injured and taken to hospital. A separate accident occurred on the opposite carriageway when a Mercedes hit the barrier; no one was hurt. The northbound lane reopened at around 12:15 after recovery work.

In Iphofen, motorhomes repeatedly park at the local cemetery when spaces at the Einersheimer Tor site are occupied. Mayor Dieter Lenzer called it a nuisance. The city plans to respond, with fines under consideration.

Campingpark Kühlungsborn on the Baltic Sea ranked 13th in the list of the 100 most-viewed campsites in Europe, according to the portal camping.info. The ranking is based on page views from January to September 2026, covering more than 23,000 campsites in 44 countries. Five East German sites made the list: four in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and one in Brandenburg — Komfortcamping Senftenberger See at No. 97. Germany accounts for 47 of the 100 entries, with Insel-Camp Fehmarn the highest-placed German site at No. 7. According to the portal, a standard night at a German campsite in high season costs around 30 euros, compared with over 40 euros in Austria, Italy, Switzerland and Croatia.
