Winter awnings for motorhomes act as a climate and dirt lock before the living area and as storage for wet clothing and equipment. Roll-out awnings fitted to most motorhomes are not designed for snow loads: their supports and mechanisms freeze, and the fabric can be damaged when retracted. Awnings with a sturdy steel frame withstand such loads and create a thermal buffer zone. Practical Motorhome's sister title promobil published a market overview of winter awnings for motorhomes and camper vans priced from 499 to 1499 euros RRP. The overview includes the Dometicⓘ Winter Air PVC 180 (1249 euros) with an air-tube frame, the DWT Globus Plus (1125 euros), the Isabella Winter (1025 euros) with cold-resistant window film rated to –38 °C, the Trigano Nagano (499 euros) and the Wigo Inuit Polar (1499 euros).
