Cooler Box Test 2026: Smart EcoFlow Glacier Classic 35 Wins

IMTEST tested four coolers for camping and travel: EcoFlow Glacier Classic 35, Dometic CFX5 45, Anker Solix Everfrost 2 40L, and Maentum IcecubeX 40L. The winner was the EcoFlow Glacier Classic 35 with a rating of 'good' (2.53), which cools to 7°C in 17 minutes and maintains temperature for over 40 minutes. The best value for money was the Maentum IcecubeX 40L (2.54), though it cools slower (about 51 minutes) and lacks a built-in battery. The Dometic CFX5 45 (2.56) had the fastest cooling (under 10 minutes) and best insulation, but is more expensive and requires an external battery.

Dometic roof tent deal: price cut from 2,500 to 2,187 euros

The inflatable Dometic TRT 140 roof tent is now available for 2,187 euros, a 13% discount from the recommended price of 2,500 euros. Designed for two people, it features a foam mattress, AIR Frame single-point inflation, and Weathershield polycotton material with mesh windows. The sleeping area measures 145×218 cm, height is 115 cm, and weight is 47.89 kg. An alternative is the Skandika Wildland roof tent at 1,999 euros instead of 2,699 euros, which sets up in about one minute via remote control.

Compact hybrid grill CADAC | Dometic Van Cook Pro FFD replaces outdoor kitchen

CADAC | Dometic has introduced the Van Cook Pro FFD, a hybrid grill that uses bayonet gas cartridges with a magnetic connection, eliminating the need for a hose and external cylinder. Mammoth Overland has unveiled the WLY Trailer, a camper designed for year-round use in conditions ranging from Arctic cold to desert heat. The model features wool insulation (R12 on walls, R25 on floor), a Truma VarioHeat furnace with 11,500 BTU output, an 800 Ah lithium battery bank with self-heating, and a Dometic RTX 2000 air conditioner. Roof tent test: five models withstand rain, wind and heat

IMTEST tested five roof tents for 2-3 people priced up to 2,700 euros. The models Dometic TRT 140 Air, Front Runner Feather-Lite, Gordigear Daintree 140, Horntools and Thule Approach M were evaluated for rain and wind resistance, sleeping comfort and ease of setup. It is noted that roof tents cost 2,000-3,000 euros, which is significantly cheaper than a camper, for example, a VW T6.1 California from 63,000 euros. Before purchasing, it is recommended to check the permissible roof load in the vehicle's operating manual.

Dometic Mini ADB: ultra-flat air distribution unit for FreshJet FJZ

Dometic has launched a compact air distribution box (ADB) for its FreshJet FJZ roof air conditioners. The Mini ADB is 37% more compact, 27% lighter, and 8 mm flatter than the standard version, making it the smallest unit currently available. It is aimed at campervans and small motorhomes where headroom is limited. The unit is compatible with all electronic FreshJet models (FJZ and FJX series) and fits into a standard 400x400 mm roof cutout without an adapter.

Exterior upgrades include matte green vinyl wrap, Baja bumper, Dakar-style roof rack, winch, 17-inch Black Rhino wheels with BFGoodrich tires. 1978 Volkswagen T2 Westfalia Campmobile up for auction

Dometic has introduced the Electric Water Heater Essential, a fully electric RV water heater powered by campground shore power (120V, 1400W). The unit eliminates propane components and exterior wall cutouts, reducing system complexity and bill of materials for OEMs. The 6-gallon aluminum tank weighs 10 pounds and requires no anode rod replacement. Designed for electric-forward RV builds, it supports interior installation without venting or access doors.

JP STAR unveils HAPPY1+City Turbo kei camper with pop-up roof and turbo engine

JP STAR (Moon Star Export) presented the HAPPY1+City Turbo concept at TOKYO OUTDOOR SHOW 2026 in Makuhari. Based on the Daihatsu Atrai with a turbo engine, the camper features an electric pop-up roof that keeps overall height around 2 m, allowing access to multi-storey car parks. Standard equipment includes an EcoFlow power system, solar panel, and Dometic air conditioner. Pricing and launch date have not been announced.

Dometic wins nine 'Best Brand' awards in 2026 European RV and caravan industry reader poll

Dometic took first place in five categories of the 'Beste Marken' 2026 reader survey by Promobil and Caravaning magazines. Over 20,500 readers—active RV and caravan users—voted. Awards were presented at the CMT 2026 trade fair in Stuttgart. Dometic won in air conditioning, cool boxes, refrigerators, lithium batteries, and solar systems; placed second in awnings and sanitation; and third in heating and sun awnings.

Swift Group has unveiled the updated Monza 2026, based on the Ford Transit Custom. The motorhome features a pop-up roof with a double bed, a kitchen unit with a 42-liter fridge and a two-burner Dometic hob, and a portable toilet. Standard equipment includes a 240W solar panel, a 95Ah auxiliary battery, a 2.2kW diesel heater, and a 40-liter fresh water tank. It is powered by a 170 hp 2.0-liter EcoBlue diesel engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Pricing in the UK starts at £75,490 (approximately $101,000). Official sales in the US are not planned.
