Record heatwaves in Europe are prompting motorhome owners to abandon traditional southern routes for cooler destinations in Scandinavia. Booking data from PiNCAMP shows a 15% increase in campsite demand in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway for July-August compared to last year, and a 68% rise since 2023. The reason is that stationary motorhomes without shore power quickly become unbearable, especially during hot nights. However, experts warn that Norway's right to roam (Allemannsretten) does not apply to motorhomes, and a northern trip is more expensive due to fuel, ferries, and toll roads.
