Motorhomes left in winter storage are often targeted by rodents such as martens, rats and mice, which seek shelter in bodywork or damage cables. According to ADAC, most insurers cover only the marten bite itself under partial comprehensive insurance, not consequential damage. Insurance broker Christian Willmann says such consequences are covered only to a limited extent or not at all, and costs can run into thousands. To prevent damage, owners are advised to check the engine bay and wiring and to choose storage with protection against rodents.
