MDR has released a 30-episode documentary series "Verrückt nach Camping" (season 5), which aired on June 5, 2026. The project shows the daily life of guests and staff at four campsites in Germany: in the Alps, on the North Sea, in the Lüneburg Heath and the Dübener Heide.
The focus is on personal stories, including the romance of 75-year-old Erika, who traveled 250 km in a motorhome to meet her partner, and Gabriele's attempt to learn stand-up paddleboarding. Also featured are a regatta on Lake Bergwitzsee, preparations for a horse festival in Mittenwald, and the setup of pitches.
