Germany is experiencing a camping boom: in 2024, campsites recorded about 42.9 million overnight stays, 20% more than before the pandemic. Pitch prices are rising due to high demand, especially in popular regions like the North and Baltic Sea coasts, Lake Constance, the Black Forest, and the Allgäu. During peak season (July–August), many pitches are booked months in advance. The cost depends on location, travel time, and comfort level: simple pitches away from tourist centers remain affordable, while well-equipped sites by the water can rival hotel prices. To save money, travelers are advised to go in the off-season (May, June, September), choose municipal or farm pitches, book early, and compare prices via apps.
