During long holidays in China, travel using cars converted for sleeping has become increasingly popular. A family of three spent just over 1,600 yuan on a 6-day trip, mostly on fuel, simple meals and minor parking fees. Industry expert Hu Penghui identifies two core issues: safety regulations are lacking when people rest on converted beds while the vehicle is moving, and public facilities for overnight stays are insufficient.
