Silvia and Sergio, retirees from Rosario, Argentina, have been living in a converted 1995 Mercedes-Benz 1215 bus for over a year, traveling across South America. The bus, originally purchased for parts, was equipped with four 450W solar panels, a 3000W inverter (with a 5000W peak, according to one source), and two 200Ah lithium batteries, providing power for a refrigerator, washing machine, air conditioning, and kitchen. The bus also has a 500-liter water tank, a separate gray water tank, and a dry toilet.
The couple says this lifestyle has reduced their consumption and improved their quality of life. They gave up most of their possessions, stating: "Enough consumerism." According to a new source, they have completely abandoned traditional housing, turning the motorhome into mobile living that combines travel and residence. Additionally, the couple says they have become calmer and less nervous. The main change has been learning to do with less: they adopted the rule "everything not used is unloaded."
