Camping Gutshof Donauried in Günzburg has offered overnight stays in four wooden barrels since 2015. Each barrel is 4.8 meters long and 2.4 meters in diameter, featuring a double bed, two benches convertible into single beds for children, a table, a refrigerator, and infrared heating. The barrels require no building permit and no water or sewage connection, which is advantageous in a water and nature protection area. They are in high demand and booked well in advance, but expansion is limited by a lack of staff.

On August 31, the TV program 'The Camping Check' will feature highlights from the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf. Hosts Friso and Lukas will explore the latest motorhomes, unusual caravans, and camping accessories among over 700 exhibitors. They will also spend the night on the fairground's parking lot, which becomes Europe's largest campsite with around 3,500 spots.

Campingpark Nabburg in the Upper Palatinate took 73rd place in the PiNCAMP ranking, which is based on page views by German users from the beginning of the year to the end of July. The site is about 91.5 kilometers from Nuremberg, a drive of roughly 51 minutes. It offers 70 tourist pitches and 43 rental accommodations, including camping pods and chalets. Nearby amenities include a municipal outdoor pool, an Italian restaurant, the Naab river, and Nabburg's medieval old town. Prices for the 2026 high season start at 37.50 euros per night for a family and 31.50 euros for a couple; low-season rates begin at 33.50 and 27.50 euros. Wi-Fi, showers, and waste disposal are included; electricity is charged extra.
