A visitor planned a day camp at Mutsu Yasaki Beach Auto Campground in Takashima, Shiga Prefecture, but decided to stay overnight because of the excellent location on Lake Biwa. Arriving after 16:00, they paid for the night but had no tent or bed. Thanks to a portable power source and car sleeping equipment, they managed to sleep.
Cost: 2000 yen per adult per night, 1500 yen for day use. Early check-in costs an additional 500 yen (according to one source). Facilities include a sink, drinking water, and a garbage station; no shower. Toilets are bio-toilets; the water may appear brownish due to the system, but it is normal.
Weekday visits are recommended, as weekends are crowded.
