An employee at a company in Nanao, Ishikawa Prefecture, spent 19 months living in a Daihatsu Move after the Noto Peninsula earthquake on January 1, 2024. The arrangement was for recovery work at his factory, not evacuation. He reports that summer car living was harsher than winter and lists essential items: a portable power station rated around 1,000 W, a solar panel, a USB fan, an induction cooktop and other electric cooking appliances. The main advantage, he writes, is the ability to move to areas where water, laundry facilities and toilets remain available.
