Spanish couple Juanma and Tony have lived for nearly four years in a self-converted van of just five square meters, paying no water or electricity bills and using only two gas bottles a year for cooking and heating water. They bought the van, named La Leoneta, for 8,000 euros and spent another 3,000 euros on repairs. Power comes from a 200 Ah lithium battery and a 400 W solar panel; showering is done in a fold-out 80 cm pool with a USB-charged pump, and a 21-liter dry toilet is used. The couple says their chronic conditions have improved since leaving a stressful lifestyle, and they describe the camper community as a village on wheels.
