The joint project between the Japan RV Association and Lawson convenience stores, 'Conbini RV Park', has been expanded to 28 stores in Chiba, Saitama, Shizuoka and Aichi prefectures as of July 17, 2026. Parking lots at 24-hour stores allow campervan travelers to use restrooms and buy goods at any time. The cost per spot is 2500 to 3000 yen per night, payable by card only. About 70 such parks are planned by the end of 2026.
According to a one-year pilot, 50% of users are over 50 years old, and 80% use the parking for leisure rather than travel. The average fee was 2500 yen per night, with 90% of users spending more than 500 yen in the store. The test showed that users were mainly those who enjoy car camping as a hobby, not budget travelers. Few etiquette issues were observed, leading to the expansion to 70 locations.
