On June 10, 2026, the Government of Madrid approved amendments to the Tourism Organization Law, which for the first time regulate new types of accommodation, including hostels and areas for the reception and overnight stay of motorhomes, campers, and similar vehicles.
The reform also establishes the principle of free pricing for hotels, updates tourist rights and obligations, and tightens insurance requirements for operators. In 2025, the region welcomed 15.4 million tourists, and tourism accounted for 8.7% of regional GDP.
