The director of tourism for Galicia, Xosé Merelles, spoke on 21 February 2026 at the 20th anniversary celebration of the Asociación Galega de Autocaravanas in As Pontes (A Coruña). The non-profit association was founded in 2006. Merelles said Galicia was the first region to introduce a separate category for motorhome-only facilities in its 2019 campsite decree. He also cited a €3 million grant line for municipalities with fewer than 10,000 inhabitants to expand the network of motorhome stopover and service areas.
