José Antonio Núñez, a 29-year-old civil servant and blogger, moved into a converted van covering 12 square meters to cut housing costs. He pays no mortgage, water or electricity, using solar panels and public water sources.
Inside: a kitchen with gas stove, 85-liter fridge, microwave, mini wine cellar, full shower and a 1.35×2 m bed. The living room height exceeds 2.30 m, and the garage fits a motorcycle up to 1000 cc.
According to sources, a used van costs €15,000–25,000, adaptation €7,000–15,000 plus certification fees. However, initial purchase and conversion costs start from €30,000, with monthly expenses of €800–1,500. Since July 2026, parking for such vehicles in Spanish cities has been simplified.
