The German automobile club ADAC has published recommendations for winterising a motorhome. Before storage, the exterior must be washed, rubber seals cleaned and treated, and perishable food and liquids removed from the interior. All water tanks, including the toilet cassette, must be drained, gas cylinders disconnected, and the electrical system switched off. The battery should be charged and recharged every 4–8 weeks, or removed and stored frost-free. For parking, a level, dry location such as a garage or carport is recommended; the handbrake should not be applied, and a wheel chock used instead. If stored outdoors, the motorhome should be covered with a breathable cover.
