Car awning test: cabin temperature drops 12°C without air conditioning

Japanese brand QUICKCAMP launched the COOLSERIES awning line, claiming a 17°C reduction in perceived temperature. In a test of the QC-CTR500 awning on a Toyota Hiace, the shaded area under the awning was 8°C cooler than the sun-exposed area (25°C vs 33°C). When the awning covered the vehicle with ventilation, cabin temperature dropped from 38°C to 26.2°C in one hour. The awning offers 99.9% UV protection and 3000 mm water resistance.
