Owner converts Nissan Caravan into camper, tests insulation and AC in summer heat
Original source: CARNEWS

In Brief

After a year-long DIY conversion of a Nissan Caravan Super Long, the owner installed insulation and a roof AC. In August at 35°C, the AC cooled the cabin to 27°C in 5 minutes, using 30% of a 7200 Wh battery over 11 hours.

The owner spent about a year converting a Nissan Caravan Super Long into a camper, adding insulation and a NYHGOXM roof air conditioner. In August, with outside temperatures around 35°C, the parked vehicle's interior reached 40°C. The 500–700 W AC cooled it to 27°C in roughly 5 minutes.

Over 11 hours of AC use, along with a stove, lights, and device charging, the auxiliary 7200 Wh battery dropped to 70% (30% consumed). Total cost for insulation and the AC was about 80,000 yen.
