France recorded around 109.9 million overnight stays at campsites, motorhome and trailer parks between June and August 2026, according to Eurostat data analysed by camping.info. This is more than double the figure for Italy, which came second with 46.9 million. Germany ranked fourth with 25.3 million, just behind Spain at 26.8 million. Sweden (12.7 million), Denmark (7.9 million), Norway (6.1 million) and Austria (6.1 million) also made the top ten. Year on year, France saw a 1.9% decline, Italy 3.2% and Germany 2.3%, while Sweden grew by 3% and Norway by 1.5%.
