French toll operators classify motorhomes by actual height including fixed roof equipment, which can lead to a higher toll class. Since 2017 Vinci Autoroutes and FFCC have offered a dedicated toll badge for motorhomes under 3 metres tall that guarantees class 2 across the network. The badge is mounted on the windscreen, payment is taken monthly, and management fees amount to a few euros per month. FFCC members receive the badge and management free of charge after submitting a form with their vehicle details. No badge exists in France for motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes, and the government has said the legal framework for private individuals to buy heavy goods vehicle toll badges is already in place, with products about to reach the market.
