New EU requirements for motorhomes

From July 7, 2025, new EU safety requirements will apply to all newly registered motorhomes up to 3.5 tonnes (source 1). Eight assistance systems, including automatic braking, lane control and a rear-view camera, will become mandatory. This is estimated to increase the cost of new motorhomes by 1000–3000 euros. Owners of self-converted vans registered after this date will also have to meet the new standards.
