Camping at Listersee: family holidays in Sauerland

Gut Kalberschnacke campsite on the southern shore of Listersee in Sauerland offers terraced pitches with views of the water and wooded hills. On site there are a knight-themed playground, a large forest adventure playground, a pump track, a new minigolf course, a football pitch and a basketball court; a weekly animation programme runs in peak season. Accommodation includes classic pitches for campervans, caravans and tents, plus sleeping barrels with infrared heating and a kitchen. Families with three or more children pay nothing for each additional child from the third onwards. By car it is about one hour from Dortmund and Cologne, two hours from Frankfurt am Main and three from Hanover; alternatively, train to Sondern station and walk just under an hour.
