The St. Gallen cantonal police will hold the first preventive campaign "Camper Day" on June 6, 2026, at the police post in Oberbüren. Motorhome owners can have their vehicles weighed free of charge on a bridge scale and receive advice on the permissible remaining payload.
The aim is to prevent overloading, which impairs handling and can lead to accidents, as well as exceeding axle loads, wheel and tire load capacities, and warranty weight. Overloading can result in fines and administrative measures. Motorhomes must be presented in an empty condition, ideally with the fuel tank filled to more than 90% and without additional cargo.
Experts from the road authority, TCS, and the association "Wohnmobilland Schweiz" will be on site.
