Camping tourism growth in Bulgaria and the EU
According to Eurostat data released on 2 April 2026, the number of overnight stays in campsites, camper van areas and caravan parks in Bulgaria increased by 8.4% in 2025, reaching approximately 153,700. This growth rate significantly exceeds the EU average of 1.1%, placing Bulgaria sixth among EU member states in terms of camping tourism growth.
Across the European Union, total camping nights reached 413 million in 2025, up 1.1% from 2024 and 28.5% higher than in 2015. Summer months accounted for 67% of all nights. France remained the leader with 154 million nights (37.2% of the EU total), followed by Spain, Italy and Germany. Camping tourism represented 13.4% of all tourist overnight stays in the EU.
