The measure covers vehicles with temporary or transit registration, slow-moving vehicles, self-propelled machinery, category L vehicles, caravans and motorhomes. Insurers will set the prices. The amendments were tabled by Stefan Belchev and a group of MPs from Progressive Bulgaria after motorcyclists protested in June against rising insurance costs. The law also allows the Guarantee Fund to pay compensation instead of an insurer with a revoked licence within 7 days of notification.

Two people were injured in a collision involving two cars and a camper near Vladaya. Traffic on the 279th km of the I-1 Sofia — Pernik road towards Sofia is restricted, detour via Vladaya village.

A joint inspection at the Yovkovtsi reservoir in Bulgaria found illegal campsites, open fires and waste in the sanitary zone. Caravans, camper vans, boats and tents were set up at the site, which supplies drinking water to over 250,000 people. The civic association Kantara-2010 told a temporary environmental committee at Varna Municipal Council that about 60 caravans and campers remain on the Varna municipality side of the Pasha Dere area, while removal actions have begun on the Avren municipality side. Bulgarian broadcaster Nova TV is launching Freedom on Wheels, a programme about travelling around Bulgaria by camper van. Mariana and Lyuboslav, known on YouTube for converting a van into a camper and touring Europe, will attempt to collect the stamps of all 100 national tourist sites in 20 days on a budget of 1000 euros. The trip starts from an unfinished paper stamp book that belonged to Lyuboslav's grandfather. Each episode will cover several new sites from the book.

The Varna Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water (RIOSV) has identified violations of environmental legislation during inspections of caravans, campers and temporary structures near Pasha Dere. The inspections took place in August 2026 in the coastal area of Pasha Dere beach (village of Bliznatsi, Avren municipality) and in the Asparuhovo district of Varna. The number and type of violations were not specified; authorities are taking steps to identify those responsible. The checks followed a large-scale operation in which more than 50 caravans, tents, canopies and vehicles were found in the forest fund above the beach, with notices for voluntary removal issued by 23 August.
