The civic association Kantara-2010 told a temporary environmental committee at Varna Municipal Council that about 60 caravans and campers remain on the Varna municipality side of the Pasha Dere area, while removal actions have begun on the Avren municipality side. According to coordinator Katya Kircheva, after the regional governor's order, police, forestry, fire and regional administration representatives visited the Avren side, explained required actions to owners, and caravans began leaving. An interagency inspection in August found more than 50 caravans, canopies, tents and cars in the forest fund above the Pasha Dere beach, and seven caravans in forest territory plus one more at Liman on the Avren side. Kantara-2010 plans to seek support at the ministerial level and, if unsuccessful, to raise the issue with European institutions.

The Varna Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water (RIOSV) has identified violations of environmental legislation during inspections of caravans, campers and temporary structures near Pasha Dere. The inspections took place in August 2026 in the coastal area of Pasha Dere beach (village of Bliznatsi, Avren municipality) and in the Asparuhovo district of Varna. The number and type of violations were not specified; authorities are taking steps to identify those responsible. A camper towing a trailer overturned after being hit from the side by a truck in central Haskovo. The crash occurred around 2:15 p.m. at the intersection of Bulgaria and Osvobozhdenie boulevards. The Renault truck, with Ruse license plates, failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the camper, which had the right of way. No injuries were reported; both drivers tested negative for alcohol. Traffic was disrupted for about an hour until the camper was righted and loaded onto a flatbed.

The Hisarya municipality has applied for funding under all available programs, securing 5 million leva from the Agriculture Fund and 15 million under ministry contracts. A Fiat camper parked on the shore of the Kardzhali Reservoir caught fire yesterday around 4 p.m. Firefighters extinguished the blaze, which destroyed the vehicle and personal documents. Preliminary cause: an electrical appliance left on. Firefighters from Podkova also put out burning shrubs and waste near a holiday village by Druzhintsi village, and dry grass near a pumping station in Momchilgrad. In Momchilgrad, rescuers captured a snake in a garage and released it in a safe location.

A burglary was committed between August 29 and 31 in the Pchelina area near Razgrad. After breaking the entrance door of a caravan, thieves stole a foresail tent, 8 spinning rods, 10 reels, three telescopes, caps, suitcases with hooks, a solar panel, 7 alarms, a sonar, a traction battery and other items. The 50-year-old owner from Razgrad noticed the loss around 8:30 a.m. on August 31 and reported it to the police. The damage is being assessed. An investigation is underway under Article 195, para. 1, item 3 of the Criminal Code.
In July, RIEW-Varna inspectors found three chemical toilets in the protected area 'Stepite' near Bolata beach, Kavarna municipality, installed without the required approval under the Protected Areas Act. Administrative penalty proceedings will be initiated. Separately, in the protected area 'Liman', following reports of camping, parked caravans without registration plates were discovered; circumstances are being clarified.
The fourth annual national camper rally is taking place in Maritsa Park in Dimitrovgrad, Bulgaria. This year, 105 camper owners are participating, including guests from neighboring Turkey. The event is organized by the local branch of the Camping and Caravanning Association to promote this type of tourism. Both modern and older camper models are on display. Prices for campers range from 1,000 to 250,000 leva. Participants note that Bulgaria has few suitable locations for camper travel, so they often head to Greece. They emphasize their commitment to leaving no trace, citing waste containers and chemical toilets.
