More than one million motorhomes are registered in Germany, and many owners park them on their own property. According to legal protection expert Tobias Klingelhöfer, temporary parking on one's own plot is generally permitted, but if the vehicle is used as living space or permanently stationary, it may be classified as a structure and require a permit. Conditions depend on the federal state, municipality and zoning plan; requirements may include minimum distance to the property boundary and fire protection measures.
