Committee decision
On October 7, the Urban Construction Committee of the Seongnam City Council rejected the city's proposed zoning change for the auto camping site in Yuldong Park. The committee deemed it inappropriate to pursue the zoning change while the camping site's registration under the Tourism Promotion Act is illegal.
Investigation
The Gyeonggi Province Special Judicial Police is investigating possible violations of the Tourism Promotion Act related to the Yuldong Park auto camping site. The committee stated that changing the zoning before the investigation results are confirmed is an attempt to circumvent the illegality.
Chairman's position
Committee Chairman Park Ki-bum said the zoning change should not be used to correct violations and called for the site to be restored to its original state.
