Bulgaria's parliament has given final approval to amendments to the Insurance Code allowing insurers to offer third-party liability policies for at least 30 days for certain vehicle categories. The measure covers vehicles with temporary or transit registration, slow-moving vehicles, self-propelled machinery, category L vehicles, caravans and motorhomes. Insurers will set the prices. The amendments were tabled by Stefan Belchev and a group of MPs from Progressive Bulgaria after motorcyclists protested in June against rising insurance costs. The law also allows the Guarantee Fund to pay compensation instead of an insurer with a revoked licence within 7 days of notification.
