Since July 1, 2024, Germany has extended the truck toll to vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, but most motorhomes remain exempt. According to ADAC, about 160,000 motorhomes weighing between 3.5 and 7.5 tonnes are registered in the country, yet only a small number may face toll obligations. Issues mainly arise for vehicles on truck or bus chassis that do not look like motorhomes from the outside. Owners are advised to register their vehicle as a "special motorhome" and, if necessary, voluntarily register with Toll Collect to avoid checks and additional fees.
