Under Article R417-12 of the French Highway Code, continuous parking of a vehicle at the same point on a public road for more than seven days constitutes an offence. Moving a motorhome a few metres does not interrupt the offence, as police have broad discretion to assess the situation. The violation is punishable by a second-class fine; failure to comply with an injunction can lead to towing and impoundment.
