Germany has an official Tempo-100-Plakette scheme that raises the maximum speed for a car towing a caravan from 80 to 100 km/h on Autobahns and Kraftfahrstraßen. The permit is valid only in Germany and requires strict technical conditions: the towing vehicle must have ABS and weigh up to 3.5 tonnes, the caravan must have tyres with a speed index of at least L (120 km/h) and be less than 6 years old, hydraulic axle dampers for caravans with a rigid body, and a weight ratio X of no more than 0.8 (or up to 1.0 with a stabilising coupling or electronic stability system). The process involves obtaining a technical certificate (from the manufacturer or via TÜV/DEKRA), registering the caravan at the Zulassungsstelle, and receiving a sealed sticker for an administrative fee of about €13. In the Czech Republic, DEKRA CZ offers the service, but the sticker does not apply outside Germany — other countries have their own speed limits.
