The Czech Ministry of Transport has sent an amendment to the Road Traffic Act for interdepartmental consultation. It proposes extending the validity of new driving licences in categories AM, A1, A2, A, B and B+E from 10 to 15 years; for already issued documents, the validity remains unchanged until the next renewal.
Key changes
- For motorhomes with a gross weight of 3500 to 7500 kg, the maximum speed on motorways and roads for motor vehicles will increase from 80 to 100 km/h; on other roads the limit remains unchanged.
- The list of offences for which EU countries exchange information expands from 8 to 18.
- Category B licence holders will be allowed to drive vehicles weighing 3500 to 4250 kg with environmentally friendly drive types.
If approved, the document will enter into force on 1 July 2027.
