Spain's Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) has issued Instruction PROT 2026/04, clarifying the inspection frequency for camper-converted vans. If the vehicle's technical sheet retains code 24 (commercial van), it must pass the ITV every six months after exceeding ten years of age. The instruction does not create a new inspection schedule but specifies that the periodicity depends on the category listed on the ITV card: category M (motorhomes) and category N (vans) follow different timelines under Royal Decree 920/2017. The document also distinguishes between parking and camping: a motorhome is considered parked if no awnings, stabilisers, or protruding elements are deployed.
