From July 2026, newly registered motorhomes up to 3.5 tonnes must be equipped with mandatory driver assistance systems: automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, driver drowsiness warning, intelligent speed assistance, tyre pressure monitoring, reversing camera, distraction warning and alcohol interlock interface. Motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes require additional systems to protect cyclists and pedestrians. The rules do not apply to conversions of already registered vans, but do apply to new base vehicles first registered after July 2026.
