Portable power stations can be used in campers without certification as long as they are not permanently fixed or connected to the vehicle's electrical system. According to the update of DGT Instruction PROT 2026/04, such devices are considered cargo, not part of the vehicle, if they can be easily removed. However, bolting them down or connecting to built-in outlets turns them into a modification requiring technical documentation. The battery must also be securely fastened with straps to avoid fines and safety risks while driving.
